Sandy asks?
I want to start speaking publicly about Tourette Syndrome, a neurological disorder that causes involuntary movements and sounds. How would i get started speaking to groups of people about Tourette Syndrome? I?m 14 years old and i live in a smallish town (20,000 people). I would perfer not to speak at my school.
admin answers:
Go to the Tourette Syndrome Association website and type ?youth ambassador? into the search box.
The TSA has a program, ?youth ambassadors? in which teens attend workshops to learn about how to educate others about Tourette Syndrome and other disabilities or differences.
It?s great you want to try public speaking, and just as great that you want to raise awareness of this commonly misunderstood movement disorder.
Your language arts/english teacher might also have suggestions on how to go about finding public speaking engagements.
Best of luck!
