Unlikely Friendships | Book Reviews | Katie Talks About

I?ve backed away from doing many book reviews lately because I simply don?t have the time to do them. I?ll review children?s books Violet is very much into books, but as far as my time goes, it?s pretty well ?booked? (Pun intended? Perhaps.) But, when I was approached about UNLIKELY FRIENDSHIPS: 47 Remarkable Stories from the Animal Kingdom by Jennifer Holland I decided to make an exception because it seemed to be a great book not only for me, but for my 2 1/2 year old as well.

The book details numerous stories of unlikely animal ?friends?. From an orangutan and a cat to an elephant and a sheep, there are stories telling about how friendships formed and pictures to accompany the stories.

It?s a heartwarming book perfect for both adults and children. My 2 year old loves to ask what each animal is and then I paraphrase the stories of friendship to her. It?s a great learning tool as well as a book about unconventional animal friends.

My favorite story was of Libby (cat) and Cashew (dog). Raised together, Cashew became blind in his old age. Libby would watch out for him and guide him where he needed to go and sleep with him at night. Sadly, Cashew has passed away and Libby is reportedly lost without him.

This is a great book for animal lovers of all ages. It retails for around $11 and is published by Workman.

This is a Class A post. Please refer to my disclosure policy for more information.
