The hill station is also famous for its many fairs and festivals which are celebrated with great fervor like all festivities in India. Most memorable among these are the Shivratri fair of the Tapkeshwar temple in Dehradun. This festival sees worshippers of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi throng the temple in huge numbers to offer prayers to the gods. Another popular fair is the Lakhawar Fair celebrated in the Lakhawar village during the months between September to October that is marked by a show of dance, music, and sports competitions.
